Onslow College Bulletin - Term 4, Week 5

 NZQA Exams

Information is available on the Website.  Please note that students must not mark NZQA examination entry slips in any way or they will not be permitted to enter the examination room.   Replacement entry slips are available from the School Office.

NZQA Exam Tutorials

NZQA exam tutorials are running now through to 30 November 2018.  Tutorials are listed on the home page of the College Website for the rest of the examination period.

Students to Sign in/out Over Study Period

Please remind your Senior students attending College over the coming weeks, going to timetabled tutorials or to use the Library and other learning spaces, to sign in/out.  We are required to have a clear record of who is on site for our Health and Safety process.

Please note they do not have to sign in when attending NCEA exams as a roll is taken at each exam.

Bus Pick Up During Exam Period

Please note that to reduce noise in the quad for the duration of NZQA exams (7 - 30 Nov), afternoon school buses will pick up students at the usual times from down the main driveway, near the Gym.  Please avoid using the driveway in the afternoons between 2.50-3.20pm to reduce congestion.

Teacher Only Day – Monday 19 November

A reminder that there is a Teacher Only Day on Monday 19 November.  The staff will be using this time to undertake a review of Learning Areas and planning for 2019.

Change to the Timetable of the Route 624 School Bus

From 12 November 2018, the Route 624, 3.15pm trip, will be integrated with the R24 service, but with a slightly later departure time of 3.18pm at Johnsonville. This will see the bus arriving at Stop 3825 Burma Road near Haumia St (Raroa Intermediate) at 3.21pm, which will give the students more time to get ready for the bus.

Toi Whakaari -New Zealand Drama School

Congratulations to Daniel Cockerill who has been accepted into the very prestigious Toi Whakaari – New Zealand Drama School. This is a huge feat as they only accept a very small number of students into the course and very rarely do they accept students straight from high school.

Sport Achievement Netball

Congratulations to Danae Abolins-Thompson (Year 12) who has been selected to attend the 2019 New Zealand Netball Development Camp. Only 50 school-aged netballers from around New Zealand were selected and only seven from the Wellington Region.  See more information on the College Website.

Paid Union Meeting

Teachers have been called to a Union meeting being held on Friday 23 November in Porirua.  The College will not be able to provide normal instruction from the end of Spell 3 (12:15pm).  Supervision will be available until 3:10pm in the Library for any students for whom alternative arrangements cannot be made.  Please let the School know if your children will require this supervision by emailing or calling the Office. Thank you for your understanding.
